My sole aim for the friends and acquaintances I invited to MỘT Cafe’s first day was for them to just talk, enjoy their food and drink, and just be. Though Los Angeles isn’t as bogged down in hustle culture as its East Coast counterparts, the city still needs a real third space — a place where patrons can just enjoy taking their time and maybe even create new connections with strangers.

I originally started this piece as a feature for this class project, but ultimately, I decided to transform it into an opinion article for the Daily Trojan on the lack of third spaces in L.A., even with all its cafes.
